Massena Music Friends trivia night a success
To the Editor:
Massena Music Friends would like to thank all of the sponsors, participants and volunteers that helped make our 2nd annual Trivia Night on April 26 a tremendous success. As a result of the support and generosity of everyone involved, MMF was able to raise $1,380 for the MCSD music department.First and foremost, we would like to thank our hosts, Dar’s Restaurant, for fee-free use of the meeting rooms at the Quality Inn. The restaurant staff was so very helpful and the size and décor of the rooms made a perfect venue for the event.
Next, we’d like to thank the sponsoring businesses and the individuals who ponied up the entry fee that was the backbone of the fundraiser. Our sponsors and other entry fee supporters included Nationwide Insurance & Scott Manley, Blevins Seaway Motors, Community Bank, Mark Bogdan CPA, Coleman & Jerry’s Hairstyling, Heritage Homes, Dr. Luis Canales, Pease and Gustafson, Via Main Restaurant, Spanky's Restaurant, the Corcoran/Chapman team, the George/Boyea team, the Taylor/Terminelli team, the Lewis/Witte team and Dr. Carl Scruggs.
Congratulations to the Pease & Gustafson team, the Canales team and the George/Boyea team, which took 3rd, 2nd and 1st place, respectively. Huge thanks go to the members of all three winning squads, as much of the $430 in prize money we awarded was donated back to MMF! Even the winner of the 50/50 drawing gave all but her $5.00 investment back to the music program! What marvelous generosity!
Big, big thanks also go out to the MMF member volunteers who worked the evening. Bud and Lynne Draper, Shannon Harvey, Larry Dowdy, Ellen Hodge, Carol Pulley, Sherry Sharlow, Pat Tubbs and the marvelous Debbie Guimond, without whose efforts our trivia success would not even exist! Thank you, Deb for your boundless energy and enthusiasm. Thanks as well to the many MMF members who filled out many of our sponsored teams!
Several music program students were also on hand to be “runners” and help keep the contest moving along, including Abby Truax , Katelyn Rea, Nick Prescott and Autumn Vice. We thank them for their personal involvement on behalf of their program!
Lastly, we’d like to sincerely thank Todd Truax, who gave up his 43rd birthday to be our trivia master and master of ceremonies. He did a wonderful job as usual!
Thanks to the support of so many during our fundraising activities this school year, MMF will, with the help of the Northern New York Community Foundation, be funding several musical instrument purchases as well as perpetual award plaques and accessories for many of the annual music department awards given to top students at the district Awards Night in June.
Again, Massena Music Friends thanks our members and the community as a whole, for its support!
