To the Editor:
The election process is over and the nation, state, county and local municipalities have spoken.
I would like to congratulate all the candidates on all levels for having the courage and conviction to enter into a game where most people are content standing on the sidelines. Win or lose, candidates fighting a campaign in order to get your message to the public, is a noble effort.
With that, I would like to extend sincere congratulations to Congressman Owens, U.S. Senator Gillibrand, State Senators Griffo and Richie as well as Assemblywoman Addie Russell. We in Massena and the North Country look forward to your leadership and continued partnership toward success.
On a local level, I wish to also congratulate Trustees Carvel and Deshaies. Working as a team is what’s necessary for Massena’s rebirth. As Mayor, I look forward to your input in reaching our goals for the betterment of our citizens.
To the candidates who fought a gallant fight on behalf of your affiliated parties but came up short, be PROUD, you got in the game……
Lastly, to the many volunteers who worked feverishly supporting ALL the candidates, without you no one’s message gets to the people. You are the backbone of any campaign and for all you do, we as elected officials are truly grateful to you.
James F. Hidy, Massena Mayor
