Lisbon Homecoming Committee appreciates all who helped

To the Editor:

The Lisbon Homecoming was held August 15-18. The weekend was a huge success, but wouldn’t have been possible without the support of the entire community. We really appreciate everyone braving the cold and rainy weather to attend our concerts, sales, parade and fireworks

Our bands, Back Country Band, Robinson Family Band and The Charlton Brothers were very cooperative as we changed venues, and those who came out despite the weather enjoyed wonderful music.

Thank you to Wendy Jacobs and the Lisbon Wesleyan Church for organizing the “Lets Feed Lisbon,” 5K Fun Walk/Run, with all proceeds benefiting the Food Pantry. Thank you also to Melanie Flack for organizing the “Hero Rush Obstacle Course,” which also wouldn’t have been possible without Lowe’s donating the materials and Al Flack building them. Both of these events were fun for the whole family. Thank you to Chris Hammond and her crew for organizing the youth triathlon at Lisbon Beach and also to Mike Light and Mike’s Michigans for donating the proceeds of their Sunday sales to Homecoming. We also really appreciate the crew from Seaway Valley Jumpers for braving the cold and rain, so everyone could enjoy their inflatables.

Additionally, thank you to the United Presbyterian Church for holding their pancake breakfast as well as the White Church for holding their Ice Cream Social. Also favorites of many were the book sale at the Hepburn Library and the craft sale held at the American Legion.

All of these events would not be possible without the support we receive from the Town Board. We really appreciate the Town Highway Department’s assistance in almost every aspect of the weekend, especially Tim Dow and Mark Hyde for their unwavering assistance. We knew if we asked, you’d make it happen. Also, thank you to Mike Lewis for donating the lights and generator for use at the Firemen’s Field. Last, but not least, a huge thank you goes to the Lisbon Fire Department for allowing us to use their field to host most of our festivities.

If there is anyone we have inadvertently forgotten, please know your contributions are greatly appreciated. This is truly a community event that wouldn’t be possible without our tireless volunteers. Hopefully, next year the weather will be more cooperative.
