‘Lights on the River’ seek Christmas displays in Lisbon

To the Editor:

We want to start off by saying thank you to all of the local businesses, school clubs, and community organizations for a great turn out in 2016. The displays were amazing and we are looking forward to working with everyone again this year.

We also want to thank all of the spectators that came out and donated so generously.

Finally, we would like to thank the Food Pantries of St. Lawrence County because these organizations are working all twelve months to provide for our neighbors in need.

We have had a busy year trying to prepare for the Lights on the River event and we are happy to say that we are starting our campaign for pledges! There are several ways of filling out a pledge/display card. We encourage as many as possible to go to our website www.lightsontheriver.org and click on the pledge/display card link on the top right corner. Please fill the card out completely and the system will automatically email your information to a representative. If you are contacted by a Lights on the River member, you can work with them to fill out a card. You can contact a committee member via Facebook or via email at jon@lightsontheriver.org.

Displays are free to setup and we encourage all local organizations and businesses to participate. It is a great and inexpensive way for your organization or business to give back to the community. We are asking everyone to provide us with an emergency phone number, so we can call you in the event that your display is not working properly.

This year the event will run from December 15th through December 23rd. We have made some changes to the times and they are as follows: December 15th and December 16th 5pm-9pm, December 16th thru December 20th 5pm-8pm, December 16th – December 17th – December 21st 5pm-8pm, and December 22nd and December 23rd 5pm-9pm. Dates and times will be posted on our Facebook page as we approach the event. Setup will start December 9th and will go to Noon on December 15th.

If you have any questions about setup please feel free to contact us at jon@lightsontheriver.org. If you are interested in being a volunteer please contact any member of the Lights on the River committee.

We are a small organization and would love some extra help especially during this time of year. We welcome high school students and we are willing to sign papers for graduation requirements.

We would like to clarify that this is not just a Lisbon organization. We help out food pantries from all over the county and we would like to see businesses, organizations, and volunteers from all over St. Lawrence County.

Thank you and we look forward to seeing all of the great displays!
