'Lights on the River' looks for North Country businesses to join

For 10 years businesses, Lights On The River, and local food pantries have been helping thousands of residents of St. Lawrence County. When we first turned on the lights almost 10 years ago we welcomed 20 businesses and donated those proceeds to one food pantry.

Thanks to the generosity, persistence and compassion of many more businesses, 2018 proved to be another great year. We were able to donate to 16 food pantries, $1,300 each and split almost 200 boxes of food each weighing approximately 40 pounds. These cash donations and food came in from businesses and the many thousands of cars that passed through the gates at Lisbon Beach each night during the Holidays.

These monetary and food donations were able to help many thousands more. Additionally, we are thankful that many organizations and families took the time to set up displays, make financial contributions or both for visitors to enjoy at no cost to them. We believe this is very inexpensive advertising for any business due to the high volume of people passing through the gates.

Even though we were able to help many more people in 2018, according to our friends and partners at the local food pantries, we have many more that still need assistance. We ask that you look at your budget and include or continue to include Lights on the River as part of your business plan. On December 14, 2019 we will have our 10th annual Lights On The River holiday display.

We would be grateful if your organization would help either financially, set up a display or both. We will have additional festivities to celebrate our tenth anniversary. Canton Carriages will be onsite with horse drawn carriage rides, we will have a “frozen foot” race and of course Santa Claus. We expect higher than normal traffic as we celebrate or tenth year providing to those in need during the holdays. All proceeds will be used to support local food pantries. We are listed as a 501(c)3 with the New York Charities Bureau and the IRS. Any donations are tax deductible. Our Website is www.lightsontheriver.org

We, at Lights on the River, truly appreciate your continued partnership in this worthwhile event. With your financial support this will help us to continue to grow and help foster community giving. This will be our 10th year lighting up Lisbon Beach and hope that you and your business will be able to join us. Again, if you have any questions, please contact Bob Santamoor at 315.250.6141 for additional information.
