‘Lights on the River’ looking for displays for Christmas fundraiser in Lisbon

To the Editor:

We first want to start off by saying thank you to all of the local businesses, school clubs, and community organizations for a great turn out in 2015. The displays were amazing and we are looking forward to working with everyone again this year.

We also want to thank all of the spectators that came out and donated so generously. Finally, we would like to thank the food pantries of St. Lawrence County because these organizations are working all twelve months to provide for our neighbors in need.

We have had a busy year trying to prepare for the Lights on the River event and we are happy to say that we are starting our campaign for pledges! There are several ways of filling out a pledge/display card. We will encourage as many as possible to go to our website www.lightsontheriver.org and click on the pledge/display card link on the top right corner.

If you are contacted by a Lights on the River member, you can work with them to fill out a card. Displays are free to setup and we encourage all local organizations and businesses to participate. It is a great way and inexpensive for your organization or business to give back to the community. All donations can be sent to the address listed below and checks can be made out to Lights on the River.

This year the event will run from Dec. 10 - 22. We have made some changes to the times and they are as follows: Dec. 10 from 5-9 p.m., Dec. 11-15 from 5-8 p.m., Dec. 16-17 from 5-9 p.m., Dec. 18–21 from 5-8 p.m., and Dec. 22 from 5-9 p.m.

Dates and times will be posted on our Facebook page as we approach the event. Setup starts Dec. 3 and will go to noon on Dec. 10. If you have any questions about setup please feel free to contact us through at Jon@lightsontheriver.org or 244-2019.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer please contact any member of the Lights on the River committee. We are a small organization and would love some extra help especially during this time of year. We welcome high school students and we are willing to sign papers for graduation requirements.

We would like to clarify that this is not just a Lisbon Organization only. Two of our members are from Canton. We help out food pantries from all over the county and we would like to see organizations and volunteers from all over the county.

Thank you and I look forward to seeing all of the great displays!

President of Lights on the River
