To the Editor:
I am responding in reference to the letter titled “Interesting Letter” published in the Advance Newspaper. The negative tone and underlying innuendos made it seem that this retired employee is harboring some resentment towards Mrs. Ritchie. Every boss is required to make tough decisions that inadvertently upset some people along the way. That is just the nature of the beast. What absolutely surprising frustrating was seeing in print that it takes up to two to three days to return down state registrations.
This program was built and expanded on the ability of the dedicated and hard working St. Lawrence County DMV employees to complete registrations within a 24-hour window. There are a couple of adages that hold true: “If it is not broke, don’t fixit” and “Don’t take risks what you cannot afford to lose.”
During these difficult economic times, it is not wise to tamper with incoming revenue sources. I have a hard time believing that an experienced County Clerk would condone any decrease in customer service either inside or outside of our county. That is why Mary Lou Rupp has my vote on Election Day.
