To the Editor:

Many, many thanks to those who attended and supported our Open House/Ribbon-Cutting celebration Saturday, Oct. 15 at the Potsdam Humane Society’s newly renovated and enlarged animal shelter on Madrid Avenue. The day was filled with many satisfying “wows” and “this is wonderful” and “what a difference!”

Special thanks go out to the community--town governments, businesses, and individuals--for attending and supporting us over the years of the capital campaign and construction. Some local businesses went above and beyond to make the day memorable.

Also, a huge thanks to Tracy and Jason Adle, owners of Your Hometown, Inc. for many items in the silent auction and all of the pumpkins and mums that made the outside of shelter festive as well.

In addition, our faithful “hospitality queens,” Amber Lindsay and Sharon Ober, contributed “tons” of stuff, filling the multi-purpose room with delicious snacks. We would be amiss to leave out a huge thanks to our staff, who worked diligently getting the building ready for the grand occasion in addition to doing their daily tasks, and hanging in there on their day off!

We are committed to providing a safe haven with humane care for the unwanted or lost animals of the North Country and feel extremely grateful to have the community joining with us to continue this mission. Together, we will provide “humane care for all” for many years to come.

Again many thanks for a wonderful Grand Opening and your continued support. We cannot exist without you!
