To the Editor:
I am a committed Democratic who will not be voting the party line in village elections this fall. I will cast my vote for Eleanor Hopke, the incumbent trustee on the Sense in Government line.
I have found Hopke to be a thoughtful and committed trustee. She is passionate in her duty to fiscal responsibility. Her experience on the Dissolution Committee and the four years she has spent “learning the ropes” makes her a valuable asset to village leadership; one that should not be discarded.
I do not understand the actions of the Democratic vacancy committee, and as of this writing, they choose not be forthcoming about their reasons for slighting Trustee Hopke.
Hopke has been lauded by town board members as someone who gets involved, does her homework, and works cooperatively. We need to keep her as a member of the Potsdam Village Board.
Please join me in re-electing Eleanor Hopke when you cast your vote on November 3. You'll find her name in the bottom right hand corner of the ballot.
