Hopes Fox News meets same fate

To the Editor:

Fox News “personalities” and Rush Limbaugh are on TV and local radio with their ever relentless, ruthless retelling of the myth that President Obama is a failure, unable to govern, un-American and wants to destroy our nation. The same is said about Progressives, liberals and Democrats who support him.

For anyone with a decent attention span, you will be “entertained” by these “personalities” with a long list of vicious lies, half-truths, purposeful distortions of fact and history, and countless ad hominem, groundless, brutal assaults upon the President, his family, his administration and his goals.

If you dare make any mention of the disastrous policies of George W. Bush left to Obama, and the obstructionist Republicans in the House and Senate, you are dismissed as another “Bush Basher” and you must be an un-American “blame America first” socialist.

You see we should not, must not consider the recent Bush/Cheney history if we expect to be able to lay all of our nation’s ills at the feet of President Obama. He’s not perfect, but the man is truly 100 percent American and finds himself “between a rock and a hard place” not of his own doing.

Expecting this president (who by the way was elected by a majority of the American people) to be able to undo in 2½ years the economic disaster resulting from the Bush years is expecting a miracle -- remember those Bush years?

The Bush tax cuts for his base: “the mores and the have-mores;” the job losses that started under Bush which were at flood stage when he left office; the Bush housing market collapse; the Bush team being “on watch” during the attacks of 9/11; the illegal and unnecessary invasion of Iraq while keeping the true cost of his wars off the books -- estimated total cost is $4 - 6 trillion; and the raiding of the Social Security trust fund of a few trillion dollars certainly which creates a problem for every American who has paid into this worthy program. The list of Bush administration fiascos is a long one that would take up pages.

The “Righties” act as though Bush left Obama a pristine, thriving, fiscally sound, strong, well-organized and regulated, honest 100 percent American Wall Street economy and government. A Utopia.  And it was the day after Obama took over the governing of this “beautiful machine” that all hell broke loose.

That is their story and they repeat it over and over again everyday. Murdoch’s days seem to be numbered in Great Britain, may his Fox News propaganda machine meet with the same destiny in the U.S.A.!
