To the Editor:
I’m in the 6th grade at Heuvelton Central School. The Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) must enact a policy that all movies containing smoking are rated “R”.
For example, did you know Dumbo has smoking and this movie is rated “G”. Also, some of the other Disney movies with smoking are Peter Pan, The Fox and the Hound, The Little Mermaid, Pinocchio, Mighty Joe Young, and Alice in Wonderland. Most young children watch these movies.
The only way to protect myself and my peers from exposure to smoking in movies like Avatar is to rate them “R”.
