'Hemi' the pitbull from Massena finds a forever home

To Judge Gustafson: my husband and myself were very interested in giving Hemi a loving home when we heard about his situation (in Massena).

We attempted to adopt him through our veterinary clinic, Trout Brook, initially we were told no, as Carol was very protective and very set on not letting this dog into a bad home or back into the hands of his previous owner. She was very skeptical as to who she could place this dog with based on your court orders.

However as a proud owner of a pitbull and a rottweiler I was not going to give up there. I contacted your office in hopes of you somehow taking time out of your day to hear me out, I didn't get to speak to you and I was extremely unsure if I would even hear back from you.

Two days went by and I began looking for other ways to prove my husband and I could be an excellent forever home for this sweet, sweet boy. I received a phone call from a sweet woman in your office and I was beyond excited that you even took the time to reach out as I am aware of how busy you all must of been. The woman in your office also called Carol to give her the green light to choose on her own who she found fit for this dog.

That simple phone call changed our lives forever, Carol was ready to do her research. She drove to our house over an hour away to check out our living conditions and our other two dogs, she also came to my job while I was working and did reference checks.

Carol clearly had Hemi's best interest at hand as did my husband and I. Next we set up a meet and greet between all of the dogs, it went great! Next thing you know we were bringing Hemi home at first for a thirty day trial, which then turned into forever. He has filled our hearts with nothing but love and many kisses! He is forever grateful as are we to have been able to make a huge difference in his life.

Ultimately I have had the chance to thank Carol and all of Trout Brook staff for saving this sweet boy, and now we want to thank you! Without your help I don't know what would've happened. We are so very thankful every single day that we are lucky enough to have him in our family!
