To the Editor:
I love St. Lawrence County.
This is a beautiful part of the country; however, our county is not without struggles.
I have served as a county legislator for about two years now and we are still trying to stabilize county finances. Paramount to that goal is timely financial data from our county treasurer’s office. The position of treasurer will have great impact on the direction of our county.
Derek VanHouse is the best person for that job at this time. His experience as a CPA shows he fully understands government finances and the importance of timely data.
In my recollection the county has never had a certified public accountant as a treasurer. We have the opportunity on September 13 and again in November to choose a CPA as our county’s treasurer.
I can’t emphasize enough how important a competent, experienced treasurer is to St. Lawrence County and I urge you to vote for Derek VanHouse September 13 and November 8. We need him now more than ever.
