To the Editor:

Each year around this time, ceremonies begin and degrees and diplomas are conferred at what we term commencements or graduations throughout the North Country.

A group of former graduates at Norwood-Norfolk, the class of 1963, has made a decision to “give back,” as they put it.

These former graduates have for seven years now presented a scholarship to a deserving student from Norwood-Norfolk. They give their money and time to this endeavor and have committed themselves with pledges to the fund for years to come.

In this selfless group, you will find names like Akland, Bixby, Clary, DeShane, Farrington, Grady, Langelier, Mackey, McClennan, Warner, Regan, Peacock and Jenner.

They feel hard work, dedication and good grades deserve recognition and, of course, they are right. They feel giving back is what it is all about.

Hats off to you folks maintaining this scholarship fund for deserving Norwood-Norfolk graduates.
