To the Editor:

Before getting into the May and June events, the Goldenaires would like to announce that of the 10 high school applicants for singing valentine monies; five scholarship awards will be presented to deserving seniors at their high school's graduation. We thank you the St. Lawrence County public for making this program such a success, 60 singing valentines were delivered in February.

Our sing out schedule in May begins with the singing of the National Anthem for St. Lawrence University and the NCAA Division III National Track and Field Championships on Thursday, May 21, at 3:30 p.m. at the Leckonby Stadium on campus.

On Monday, May 31, we sing the National Anthem for the VFW at their Memorial Day ceremonies around 10:15 to 10:30 a.m. at the Canton Park.

Then on Saturday, June 6, we will be riding and singing on Tom Westside's 1935 antique truck in the Dairy Princess Parade.

The big event for us is the annual Barbershop Show to be held at the Russell Theatre Opera House on Saturday, June 13. Mark your calendars. The Canton chorus and three quartets will have two performances...one at 3 p.m. and the second at 7 p.m.

The Russell Fire Dept. is working on a possible spaghetti dinner in between shows; but more on that later. The price of tickets is $10 adults, and $8 for student/senior age 62 and older. Tickets may be purchased from any member; or by calling Jim Michaelson at 386-5250; or by calling Marilyn at the Pear Tree at 386-8621; or by calling the Russell Town clerk, Tess, at 347-2358.

Keep your head up...and, sing out a song!
