To the Editor:
On April 24, Comrades of Hope and Dr. Sally White of OASAS, sponsored free naloxone (narcan) training at the Massena Community Center.
The event was well-attended not only by Massena residents, but members of nearby communities. We thank those who participated and received the training and kits.
We greatly thank Dr. White for her generous sharing of knowledge and tools to prevent opioid overdoses; she is inspiring.
Thanks to NYS Trooper Chad Niles for presenting information on the science of the disease of addiction; he is a great supporter of our Group.
A special thank you to Derek of the needle exchange program for enlightening us on the importance of his work in the community. Thank you to Felicia Neahr of the Massena Drug Free Coalition for the audio-visual projection.
Special thanks to the North Country This Week, Courier-Observer, and The Free Trader for covering our events and publishing our meeting info. And lastly, thank you to our friends at Hannaford and Massena Walmart for their generosity of providing refreshments! We will be sponsoring another Narcan training July 10 in Madrid. Check our website, comradesofhope.com for info. Our monthly meetings are on the second and fourth Thursday at 6 p.m., Massena Community Center.
