To the Editor:
Election Day is fast approaching and I believe that a change is needed in the make up of the St. Lawrence County Legislature. Under the Democrat majority since 2007 the fiscal condition of the county has deteriorated.
A recent report by the N.Y.S. Comptroller ranks it one of the most distressed in the state and states that it is under significant fiscal stress.
This seems strange to me after the sales tax was recently raised. It also seems odd that that the county would be in the position of having to borrow 10 million dollars in the near future. In my opinion, it is time for new and fiscally conservative leadership.
That is why I would urge you to support Joel LaPierre as Legislator for District 4 and Travis Dann for Legislator for District 5.
On another note, please remember that every vote does count. There is no better reminder of this than my election in 1997.
That election ended in a tie vote of 795 to 795 so you can see that one vote more or less would have made the difference. So please vote on Election Day, Nov. 4.
William E. (Bill) Lacy
Former St. Lawrence County Legislator
