To the Editor:
My, my, my. touched a nerve have we Mr. Forsythe.
I really appreciate that you left me out of your earlier rant. But I think you have lost touch with what has gone on since you were a member of the board of legislators.
During my time as chair, my emphasis was on cooperation to further the best interests of the people of this county. I have respect for my Republican and Democratic colleagues. I respect our administrator and our department heads as they try to give us the best county services that we can get.
I stand by the facts and the reality of what happened; your vote did indeed end up costing the county hundreds of thousands. You may play the game of it would have been the same if you had not voted the way you did. Woulda, coulda, shoulda. As far as our board hired attorney, I have my own assessment of the value of his advice which stood in opposition to clear case law. Case law which we were all well aware.
I am retired but not dead. I am a Democrat and proud of the values that designation denotes. You will be on the board and regardless of results of Nov. 4, no matter who has the majority, you have a great responsibility to the people of this County.
I urge you to do the best you can and focus on what the people need. Do not get bogged down on the low road.
