To the Editor:

This letter is to urge you to vote for Mary Lou Rupp for St. Lawrence County Clerk, not a governor-appointed politician that fired an experienced, well-qualified employee on his first day in office because she was his opposition.

That act alone is cause to question his character and judgment.

The county clerk’s office and the people of St. Lawrence County deserve better.

Contrary to what has been said in previous letters, I have learned that Mary Lou could have been hired in the Motor Vehicle Department but our current county clerk refused.

I have 26 years experience in the county clerk’s office, 16 as county clerk, so I know how complex the office really is.

Much has been said about the current clerk’s accomplishments. Truth is, he has only continued established policies.

Mary Lou Rupp has superb qualifications, background, experience and goals.

Please vote for her on Nov. 8
