Forget sympathy vote, Regan is a proven leader

To the Editor:

I want to write a positive letter in support of Gavin Regan who is running for St. Lawrence County Clerk. I cannot do that without a few comments first. I want to say that I am tired of hearing about the sympathy for Mary Lou Rupp’s dismissal as Deputy Clerk; a position that Cathy Streeter-Race is deserving of and was in line for before Mary Lou was hired. Gavin Regan made a business decision to have one deputy clerk and that was Cathy. Gavin Regan saw a seasoned – 22 year employee in Cathy and knew she had the knowledge and skills to become his Deputy Clerk. I also have to state that I am tired of the misleading letters to the editor. If you are going to write something on someone’s behalf or against someone you should do your homework and you should be truthful and not mislead the voting public.

I can say that I have done my homework and I have come to the conclusion that Gavin Regan is the best candidate for St. Lawrence County Clerk. Gavin has jumped in full throttle and has settled previous union issues and has received the support of multiple local unions. His education in business and experience in the financial industry is certainly what we need in a County Clerk. He has appointed an excellent deputy in Cathy Streeter-Race. Gavin has had numerous leadership roles in various arenas. The County Clerk’s Office is a very important part of County government and Gavin has jumped in with both feet planted firmly on the ground. Between cost cutting efforts and added revenue the Department is already ahead by approximately $250,000.

This election day don’t vote sympathy, vote for a proven leader.
