To the Editor:
As the nice weather arrives, one of the often-neglected tasks by many is not replacing our worn and unserviceable U.S. flags so many of us display proudly. Please take the time to replace your torn and tattered flag and dispose of it properly.
Our local Amvets post in Potsdam collects these worn flags during the year and conducts a flag retirement ceremony at the post. The next ceremony will be held on Memorial Day, May 30, at 6 p.m.
We have a flag receptacle drop box at our Amvets Post located at 6771 US Highway 11, please feel free to stop by to drop your flag off any time that is convenient for you. This drop box is located by our front door.
We want to invite everyone in the community to attend this event. There will be a local Boy Scout troop performing the ceremony and we encourage you to come support them.
Thank you for your continued support,
Jerry Deon
