To the Editor:
The family of Jesse D. McCarthy would like to thank everyone who helped make the 1st Annual Pride & Joy Bike Run/Pig roast such a huge success, including: Commercial Pres for the beautiful posters, Adirondack Deck & Dock Co. or the Memorial Walk Bridge raffled off, all the musicians for the entertainment, Great Northern Printing for make the great t-shirts, Kevin Caskinett, Clifford Flanagan and their helpers for building an awesome stage for the music and an extra special thanks to all the helping hands that were recruited with the details of setting up the food and the bike run registration at the Birches and all the bikers who rode in support for this event. Tim Murdock did an excellent job cooking the pig.
All profits went to the Jesse D. McCarthy Scholarship Fund, started last year in memory of Jesse who died in a car accident Sept. 17, 2009. The awards were given out at the end of the Pride & Joy Bike Run. The recipients of 2010 were Nick Rycroft of Colton School, who chose a guitar and accessories from Dick’s Country Store; and Claire Woodcock of Canton School who chose voice lessons at Crane School of Music.
Anyone interested in more info on the music scholarship or interested in helping with next year’s fundraisers, contact Vicki Stark, 262-2698 or Brenda Flanagan, 714-2422.
We hope to make this music scholarship work to help aspiring music students in St. Lawrence County continue their music interests.
