Exhibit highlights Northern New York art

To the Editor:

What I enjoy most as your State Senator is helping to highlight the people and places that make Central and Northern New York such a special place to live.

That’s why I’ve started a program to promote some of our region’s most talented artists whose work often captures in paintings, photographs and sculptures the beauty of Oswego, Jefferson and St. Lawrence Counties, our landscapes, people and communities.

“Senator Patty Ritchie Celebrates Local Artists” features exhibitions of works on loan in my district offices in Oswego, Watertown and Ogdensburg.

I kicked off the program with St. Lawrence County’s John Morrow, Jefferson County’s Michael Ringer and Oswego County’s Gale Armstrong. Recently, I’ve also spotlighted Ellen Landphere, Sandra Dowie and Marcella Slater, providing a venue where more people can become aware of some of the outstanding artists in their own backyard.

We all know of the beauty that is Central and Northern New York—it’s one of the reasons

we love to call this region home. But we can sometimes forget that we have world class artists in our own communities who sometimes just need a place to display their works to obtain the recognition they deserve for the beauty they capture in their work.

You are invited to help me “Celebrate Local Artists.” Stop by my office, at 46 East Bridge St. in Oswego; 317 Washington St. in Watertown, and 330 Ford St. in Ogdensburg, and see for yourself. I know you will appreciate the views—and the talent among us.

Examples of the art works on display can be found on my website, www.ritchie.nysenate.gov
