To the Editor:
The Massena Volunteer Emergency Unit is looking for new members. The MVEU is a not for profit organization that has been in the area for 60 plus years and has served the community since its inception.
We have opportunities for individuals to start a career in the EMS field and or to step into the Medical profession as an RN, doctor or paramedic.
We currently have a member who is now an RN serving at MMH, and also have advanced level EMTs going to JCC in Watertown for their degree in paramedicine.
We offer free training as a probationary member in CPR and we will send you to EMT classes upon obtaining membership. We also have a Dive team if you are interested in diving. The MVEU is also asking any past members that left in good standing to please contact the office we would love to have you all back.
We will accept anyone from the ages 18 and older; criminal background check and urinalysis required upon acceptance as a member.
Our online application can be found on our website or via the following link: http://yourfirstdue.com/manager/data/1312992001/File/mveu_app.pdf. Please fill out and return in-person, or if you wish you can also stop in at our building on East Orvis Street; next to Italian Affair to obtain an application.
To the high school graduates last year and this upcoming year, we are hoping you will consider this opportunity to come and find out if you would choose this as a career. The MVEU is also starting a Ride-a-long program in the near future; anyone 18 or older can come and ride along to see if this is something they would like to do before applying and becoming a member.
So if you love to help others and want to keep helping and get the training this is a great opportunity!

Massena Rescue Squad, interim president
