Election is over, work is just beginning in Village of Potsdam, says Hopke

To the Editor:

I would like to thank the voters of the Village of Potsdam for electing me to a second term as village trustee.

I look forward to working with new Mayor Ron Tischler and new trustee colleague Nick Sheehan, as well as with continuing trustees Steve Warr and Ruth Garner, and I promise to continue to do my best to meet the challenges facing our village.

I must especially thank my campaign committee as well as everyone who wrote letters, put signs in their yards, and helped design campaign handouts and the Hopke for Potsdam Facebook page. Thanks also to those who went door-to-door and telephoned and e-mailed people to get out the vote. Most of all, thanks to those in the village who expressed their faith in me by giving me their votes.

At 7 p.m. on December 7, Ron Tischler will be sworn in as mayor; at the same time, Nick Sheehan and I will be sworn in as trustees. The public is welcome. The public is also welcome to attend the regular meetings of the village board which occur on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of the month in the Civic Center.

Village residents should know that they can find contact information for board members and staff on the village web site. Please feel free to contact any of us with your ideas and concerns.

The election is over, but the work is just beginning. Working together, we can move forward.

Eleanor Hopke
