Democrats can’t resist temptation of spending, says Morristown man

To the Editor:

Apparently we have more evidence of tax and spend liberal democratic county legislators attempting to make one more money grab from taxpayers before leaving office.

Our soon to be former Legislators Jonathon Putney and Gregory Paquin can’t seem to resist the temptation of spending (wasting) some more of our tax dollars before vacating the office “We the People” removed them from.

From what has been reported to date the monies from the St. Regis Mohawk land claim the defeated legislators want for their district is unethical. Mr. Putney believes that his district deserves a lion’s share due to proximity to the reservation as does Mr. Paquin.

Unless you’re paying attention you would not know both these legislators work for the school they want the money for. The conflict of interest is plain to see unless you have a pair of blinders like those worn by these legislators.

These tax and spend liberals have buried our county with $40 million dollars of debt with no solution but raise taxes then continue the status quo of spending it only to give you a nice tax increase every year (I’ve seen a 176% school/property tax increase in the eight year democratic rule).

Mr. Putney would have us believe the funding is not adequate for Massena or Brasher but it is for the other 28 towns. Mr. Putney would have us believe if this was in Mr. Lightfoot’s district he too would want the extra funds. I tend to disagree. I don’t believe Mr. Lightfoot is wired this way. Mr. Putney certainly is.

By not looking out for the taxpayer Mr. Putney sealed his fate at the polls. I believe Mr. Lightfoot and his new majority will protect “We the People” from the tax and spend liberal policies that got us here. My advice to Mr. Putney and Mr. Paquin would be to recues themselves from this lame duck money grab.

I suggest Mr. Putney and Mr. Paquin accept the “chump change” they expect the other 28 towns to receive and be happy. I tip my hat to Mr. Lightfoot for educating the public about the wrong these two legislators have put forward. It serves to remind “We the People” why Mr. Putney and Mr. Paquin are officially replaced.

Unlike the democratic legislature Mr. Lightfoot’s plan to end the borrowing and saving the county $100,000 in interest payments each year indicates he is looking out for the taxpayer. Apparently, this was never a plan the old guard would have considered.

This is why we have a new guard!
