To the Editor:

On Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 8, voters in St Lawrence County will be going to the polls to fill, among other seats, three NYS Supreme Court Judgeships in the 4th Judicial District. Republicans have endorsed three highly-qualified and experienced candidates: Justice of the Supreme Court, Judge John Lahtinen; Robert “Bob” Chauvin and Ann Crowell.

Judge John Lahtinen is seeking re-election to his 2nd term. Serving as an Associate Justice on the Appellate Division, Third Department, he has written in excess of 1300 decisions and participated in more than 9000 appeals. A resident of Plattsburgh, Judge John Lahtinen has a sister residing in Gouverneur.

“Bob” Chauvin brings over 36 years of private practice experience in the Supreme Court 4th JD, concentrating in personal injury, labor law and civil litigation, arbitration and mediation. Mr Chauvin has been an Assistant District Attorney for Saratoga County, prosecuting and conducting misdemeanor and felony criminal cases in Supreme Court for 30 years.

Ann Crowell has over 30 years of legal and private-sector business experience. Having served in the Rensselaer County District Attorney’s Office and in the Schenectady County Public Defender’s Office, Ms Crowell was a successful trial attorney in private practice, litigating cases before the NYS Supreme Court. She presently serves as Confidential Law Clerk to the Hon Stephen A Ferradino, NYS Supreme Court Justice.

Our countywide candidates continue to campaign across St Lawrence County.

Kevin Wells, candidate County Sheriff; Mary Lou Rupp, candidate for County Clerk; and Andrew Moses, candidate for Family Court Judge, bring with them a wealth of experience for the seats they seek.

In addition to the races mentioned above, there are over 170 city, town and village contests for Mayors, Town Supervisors, City Councilors, Village Trustees, Town Councilmen, Highway Superintendents, Town Clerks, Town Justices and Assessors. Our candidates are concerned about jobs, tax levies and public safety. Support them with your vote on Election Day.

Nancy Martin, Chairwoman,

St Lawrence Republican County Committee
