To the Editor:
Within St. Lawrence County we are blessed with exceptional colleges and universities. These higher education institutions are eligible to be a part of Governor Cuomo’s Tax Free NY program.
This program would create a partnership between our local innovation incubators and industry.
The jobs created under this proposal would be from companies that otherwise may not have situated in NY. The new jobs created would be a value added to our communities.
The Tax Free NY concept is a ground-breaking initiative. I commend the governor for his solution driven focus on ending the plague of structural unemployment in the rural portions of NY State.
The benefits of this program are clear and it is time that we put our people to work. Our young men and women graduating from high school and college should not be our communities primary export.
As the Chairman of the St. Lawrence County Legislature I’m proud to say that I approve of Governor Cuomo’s efforts to make Upstate NY and the North Country region a jobs magnet.
