Colton woman seeks town clerk’s post

To the Editor:

I am Sarah M. Ashley, Independent Candidate for Town Clerk in the upcoming election. I am a lifelong resident of this charming little North Country town, although many still recognize me by my maiden name of Sarah Rotach. It is an honor to raise my three sons in this supportive community, along side my high school sweetheart, who seven years ago became my husband. I chose to run for this position for the same reasons I volunteer with the Lawrenceville Fire Department, to protect, serve, and give back to the community that helped raise me and mold me into who I am.

Since graduation from St. Lawrence Central in 2004, I have worked in positions that align with the Town Clerk duties. I worked in banking, where many courses were taken to ensure proficiency and knowledge of every associated duty, while also maintaining efficiency in privacy protocols. In 2012, I was commissioned as a New York State Notary.

I returned to my alma mater, St. Lawrence Central, to substitute and be a one-on-one Aide in 2013. A position that required attention to detail, a firm yet kind demeanour, and communicating in age appropriate terminology. I have actively volunteered, not only as a Fire Fighter with Lawrenceville Volunteer Fire Department, but also with the Tri-Town Timberwolves Football program, at school functions, and in raising funds for local charities.

Throughout my volunteer work I have learned to think on my feet, have helped write grant applications, have acted as a publicist, and have been an event coordinator. I wholeheartedly and humbly thank you for the incredible support that has been shown throughout this campaign thus far. To have three candidates vying for the same position is uncommon for this

Town. Although I truly hold both of my fellow candidates in high esteem, only one of us can be victorious. Every vote will matter. I thank you for your time and support. Remember to vote on November 8.

Sarah M. Ashley
