To the Editor:
In recent articles by North Country This Week reporters and a letter I wrote to the editor concerning the issue of the “toilet gardens” that are degrading our village, I have given the impression that I am dissatisfied with the Code Enforcement Office and in particular Mr. Thompson.
I want to be clear that I am not upset with Mr. Thompson or his Office and the conduct of their duties.
I am clear that he is doing all that he can to clean up our village within the parameters of what he is allowed to do.
This is evident from the statements of the mayor at the last two Village Board Meetings. Our elected officials should support our Code Enforcement Office in protecting the economic interests of the village residents and businesses that are being adversely affected by these “toilet gardens.”
Let me be clear, responsibility for Village Code Enforcement rests squarely on the shoulders of our elected officials.
