To the Editor:
First and foremost, a “Yes” vote to let the Town of Potsdam take over sole responsibility for Youth Recreation will assure youths in both the town and village of Potsdam of its further continuance. Without it, there is no such assurance, since the village board is on record to discontinue its portion of such funding.
Secondly, the village and town have perpetually bickered with each other over their split funding of this program. If the Town of Potsdam has sole responsibility, it stands to reason that efficiency will be vastly improved.
As for the taxpayers, this will cause only a slight adjustment in village and town taxes, either up or down. In any event, it is certainly no big deal. The real “big deal” is a better and more certain recreational future for our kids.
Remember, Thursday, April 10 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Town Hall, Elm Street. Voting is limited to property owners in the village and town only.
