To the Editor:

Casella Waste Services would sincerely like to apologize to the Village residents for the bags arriving late. As the village’s contractor it is expected that we meet our deadlines to provide you with on time service. Our supplier had guaranteed us delivery of the bags prior to Aug. 1, which we announced to you as the program start date. Due to the not delivering the bags on the expected date we will accept stickers on bags through Tuesday, Sept. 17.

Effective Aug. 14 “trash bags” were available at the following convenient locations: Village of Potsdam Offices – Civic Center; Potsdam IGA - Elm Street; Potsdam Save a Lot – Market Street; Kinney Drug Stores – Maple and Market Street; Evans and Whites – Maple Street; Casella Waste Service – Maple Street and 472 West Parishville Road.

The cost for bags are: 15 gallon (packages of 10) - $14 tax exempt or 30 gallon (packages of 5) - $14 tax exempt.

What if I still have stickers but want to use the bags now? Can I exchange them?

Yes, you can. You can redeem stickers at the village of Potsdam Civic Center Offices and both Casella Waste Service locations. Stickers can be exchanged and traded based on the bag size you now use, 1 sticker can be redeemed for 1 - 15 gallon bag and 2 stickers can be redeemed for 1 - 30 gallon bag. Stickers will be redeemed until Tuesday, Sept. 17.
