To the Editor:

The 23rd annual “Seniorama” was held Aug. 13 at the Roos House, SUNY Canton. The beautiful facility was enjoyed by all.

This year we had vendors from area businesses, hospitals, credit unions, county agencies, homecare businesses, insurance companies, nursing homes, optometrists, audiologists, entertainment organizations, pharmacies, political representatives and candidates, public utilities, senior organizations, and support services for seniors.

A big thank you to all the vendors who took out ads in out “Seniorama Booklet” and those that contributed the many door prizes is greatly appreciated. Seniors were able to talk one-on-one with many participants and received information and goodies about each.

Thank you to the Canton VFW Post #1231 for leading off out opening ceremony, to Kim Briggs for leading the Pledge, to Diane Foote for a beautiful National Anthem and to Father John Downs for our opening prayer.

Thank you to Matt Akins from CPH, the band Time-Line, Rochelle LaShomb and the line dancer group “The Skates” for entertaining us throughout the day.

Congratulations to Sandra Woodcock for winning the lottery tree frame, hope you had some big winners.

This year’s event would not have been a success without the held from chapter members who helped get ads, tables, door prizes, sold raffle tickets and helped throughout the day.

The North Country Chapter of New York StateWide Senior Action Council, brings the health and information fair to the area each year to help keep seniors informed.

We are a not-for-profit grassroots membership organization made up of individuals and organizations with an interest in improving the lives of senior citizens.

We meet the first Thursday of the month except January, February, July and August. The meetings are held at 9:30 a.m. for coffee, business meeting at 10 a.m., speaker at 10:30 a.m. and lunch at noon.
