Canton Goldenaires thank florists for Valentine’s Day support

To the Editor:

The Canton Goldenaires would like to take this opportunity to thank the St. Lawrence County public for making Valentine’s Day such a great success.

Our three quartets covered the Massena/Ogdensburg area, the Potsdam/Brasher/Hopkinton area and the Canton/Colton/Hermon area with many enjoyable and memorable moments.

We delivered close to 70 "singing valentines" which is 20 more than we have ever done before.

All monies will go to seniors who are bound for college and who have had good experiences in their school plays, orchestras, choruses or community shows. All they have to do is to check with their schools' music directors, or guidance counselors to get details and apply for a scholarship.

Last year there were 15 applications submitted and five cash awards were given out. If you know a senior who is musically inclined and going to college, encourage them to apply.

We also want to take this opportunity to thank the florists and Canton Price Chopper for their continued support in donating the roses which help make the day special.

Without the help of donations from Bailey Florists, White's Flowers in Canton, Ferrand’s Florist in Ogdensburg and the Willow Tree Florist in Potsdam; it would be a major expense.

Thank you each for your generosity.

The Canton Goldenaires are from all over St. Lawrence County. We are men of all ages and are always looking for others who enjoy singing, like community service, and like to have fun.

We practice every Monday night at Partridge Knoll in Canton, 7:30 to 9:30.
