The Canton Goldenaires would like to express out thanks to the St. Lawrence County public for purchasing our "Singing Valentines" on the Feb. 13-14 and welcoming our three quartets into your homes and places of work to deliver that special song to that special person or group.

The day was a huge success with over 60 delivered all over the county. The Goldenaires would also like to recognize and thank the florists and the Canton Price Chopper for donating the roses that are so important to our deliveries. Along with Price Chopper, Baileys on the Morely Rd, White's Flowers in Canton; The Willow Tree Florist on Rte. 11 in Potsdam; and Ferrand's and Bastas Florist in Ogdensburg helped defray our costs.

Speaking of costs, all monies donated will be put towards senior high school scholarships in the spring. Right now, all information that musically inclined seniors, who are looking to continue their musical interest in college, can apply. Special letters and applications have been delivered to all county schools. All interested seniors must apply by April 1st. Last year 7 scholarships were given out from the monies collected. If you know of some senior who might be interested, have them apply.

Looking ahead the Goldenaires(20 strong from all over the county) are working on new music for their Annual Show to be held at the Russell Opera House on June 13. There will be two shows this year...one at 3 p.m. and another at 7 p.m.; and we have heard that the Russell Fire Dep't is working on a chicken BBQ in between shows.

It should be a good time. Mark your calendars. Tickets, $8 and $10, and are available from members...or call Jim Michaelson at 386-5250.

Thank you again for your continued support and we are always looking for good men who love to sing barbershop. We meetevery Monday night at Partridge Knoll in Canton on Sullivan Drive and practice from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. "Come Sing a Song with Us!"
