Canton Goldenaires deliver 50 singing Valentines

To the Editor:

The Canton Goldenaires would like to once again thank the St. Lawrence County public for making our “singing valentine” fundraising program such a success in 2018.

Not only was the weather sunny and bright; our deliveries we enjoyable and as special as ever. The three quartets delivered close to 50 and a good time was had by all (singers and listeners).

All money, as in the past, will go to deserving high school seniors who apply by April 1. All details for the applications for the money awards are at each St. Lawrence County schools…in the guidance and in the music departments. Seniors that are going to college and have a special interest in music (good experiences in their school play(s); orchestra, chorus, or community shows; and, give back to their communities) should apply. Last year there were 4 winners: Amanda Mason and Hannah Hannon from Parishville-Hopkinton; Joshua Barkley from Madrid-Waddington; and Collin Trathon from Heuvelton Central. There were 16 applicants in all.

We would also like to thank at this time our faithful florist who have been supplying us with our roses over the years…the Canton Price Chopper; Whites Florist in Canton; The Willow Tree Florist in Potsdam; Bastas’ Florist in Ogdensburg; and our newest contributor The Main Street Florist in Massena…we thank you for your generosity. We would also like to note that our earliest years…Bailey’s Florist was there when we called…thank you Joretta! And, our candies were supplied by Kinney’s of Canton.

Lastly, our men’s chorus is always looking for new voices…so if you like singing (Barbershop in particular)…we would love to have you give us try. We meet on Monday nights at Partridge Knoll on Sullivan Drive In Canton at 7:30 p.m. Come and sing with us, and help us to “Keep the Whole World Singing.”
