To the Editor:

The Canton Goldenaires men’s barbershop group has been busy selecting winners for the “singing valentines” cash awards, singing at TAUNY and preparing for their annual show July 26.

The singing valentine committee has selected seven deserving high school students from around the county. Eighteen outstanding students applied.

The names of the students and their cash award will be released once the individual winners and their schools have been notified and announced at their respective schools.

The Goldenaires’ busy schedule included a “singout” recently at TAUNY. We look forward to singing the National Anthem for the VFW following the Memorial Day Post Parade ceremonies in the park in Canton; and we are definitely looking forward to riding on Tom Westside’s antique truck in the Dairy Princess Parade in early June.

But, the big event on our schedule is our annual show. Members are now looking for advertisements for the program, and will selling tickets starting this week. Tickets prices are $8 for seniors/students/children and $10 for adults.

Tickets will also be sold at The Pear Tree, 77 Main St. and TAUNY, 53 Main St. or by calling Jim Michaelson at 386-5250.

The title of the show this year is “Makin’ Music” and will be held in the Colton-Pierrepont Central School auditorium at 7:30 pm on July 26.

We again thank you for your continued encouragement and support for our favorite hobby: singing.
