Canton Free Library thanks community for support on budget vote

To the Editor:

As President of the Board of Trustees of the Canton Free Library, I am writing to thank the Canton Central School District residents for, once again, showing their strong dedication to the community libraries in Canton, Rensselaer Falls, and Morley.

On May 21, school budget voters chose to overwhelmingly support Proposition 3, which will provide an additional $12,000 for the Canton Free Library and its branches. This $12,000 increase in the school tax levy will replace the revenue lost when the St. Lawrence County Legislature eliminated funding to county libraries and other external agencies this year.

The Canton Free Library will continue to serve our community by providing literature, entertainment resources, educational programming, research help, internet access, meeting space, and so much more. The Canton Free Library Board of Trustees is most grateful for the support that the community members provide to their Canton libraries.

Our local library system is inarguably one of the jewels of the Town of Canton.

Tom A. Langen, President Canton Free Library Board of Trustees
