Candidate wants to bring positive action to region

To the Editor:

My name is Ryan Warr and I am running for the County Legislature in District 11 (Eastern part of the Town of Potsdam and the Town of Stockholm).

I am a lifelong resident of St. Lawrence County and currently live on the May Road in Potsdam with my wife, Nicole and our two young children. As a Potsdam High School and Canton College graduate, I am employed as the lead counter salesperson by City Electric in Potsdam.

I have watched an exodus of my friends and our young people move away from St. Lawrence County to find employment. It is a trend that must be reversed. I felt so strongly about this issue that I have followed the County Legislature for the last two years and have found that they are moving forward: creating an atmosphere for the future of our children and grandchildren to be part of the local economy rather than somewhere far away.

We may not always like the decisions that come from our elected officials in Albany or Canton through the legislature, but under the guidance of this current body in Canton, Governor Cuomo has paid more attention to us than ever before.

Having the land claims settled, getting legislation in the Assembly for our ATV trails, and doing a better job of creating and promoting tourism are a few of the ways this Legislature is helping move St. Lawrence County forward in the right direction.

So I am committed to work as a county legislator to bring more positive action at the County and State levels. This is why I am asking folks in District 11 to vote for me.

I promise if I am elected, I will listen to the voters and work for them to make St. Lawrence County a destination for economic development.
