Burns will work to bring businesses back to city if elected mayor, says Ogdensburg resident

To the Editor:

We are writing in support of Vernon (Sam) Burns for our next Mayor of Ogdensburg.

We have known Sam for many years as a neighbor, parishioner at St. Mary’s Cathedral, St. Lawrence County Legislator, and fellow supporter of labor and their unions. We have found him to be dependable, knowledgeable, and honest.

As a legislator for our county, Sam fought for “Plan 2014” ensuring water levels necessary for recreation, advocated for SLPC and OCF to keep these important facilities open in our community, served as a member of the Northern Corridor Transportation Group promoting the construction of Interstate I-98, and supported the expansion of the Ogdensburg International Airport. Each task was undertaken with the goal of raising employment, expanding tourism, increasing revenue, and improving our community.

Sam believes that we can make this city great again and is willing to fight to make this happen. His goals for our city are the same as they were for our county and, if elected to the position of Mayor of Ogdensburg, he can help make that happen. His plans for our city include aggressively developing our waterfront and airport, filling the many vacant buildings and expanding our retail sector, and negotiating with Albany and Washington on behalf of our city – all with an eye to increasing tourism, revenue, and jobs.

Unlike the political campaign that is being waged around us at a national level, Sam Burns wants to run a positive, fair, and honest campaign. This method of politicking is a breath of fresh air that further convinces us that he is the man we need to lead our city.

Vote for Sam Burns on Nov. 3! The change we need; the voice we deserve!
