Boys Scouts fundraise through patriotism

To the Editor:

I am impressed by the BSA Troop 95 of Potsdam and their fundraising project. This project combines fundraising and patriotism.

For $50, the scouts of Troop 95 will put up and take down a flag on four patriotic days over the year. Memorial Day, Flag Day, the July 4, and 9/11 are the four days that scouts will, in uniform, install a flag at the end of the driveway around dawn and then, around dusk, take it down again.

What a great way for us to support our local scout troop as well as show our love of country. My 12-year-old son is one of these scouts and he woke up at 5:15 a.m. yesterday to get some flags setup, which is much earlier than he is used to, of course!

They do this every year and raise the money for Scout Camp. For those interested in signing up for this service, it’s not too late. You can contact the Scoutmaster of Potsdam Boy Scout Troop 95 by calling 801-668 4054.
