To the Editor:
The Friends of Potsdam Humane Society would like to thank everyone who helped to make our first Bowling Extravaganza a great success! Our gracious host, Thomas Kiereck, and all the folks at Market Lanes helped us put together a fun day for all who attended on Sunday, March 29.
We truly appreciate all the support from our generous event sponsors: John Barstow – Barstow Motors, Steve & Robin Boutot - Boutot Auto Sales, Tom Potter – S & L Electric, Brooks Washburn – Brooks Washburn Architect, PC., Leon Martin – Martin’s Maple Street Station. We also want to thank the individuals and businesses that donated prizes for the raffles: The Roxy Theater, Market Lanes, Susan Gibbons - Bella’s Redemption Center, H & R Block, Larry Loomis – Dog’s Best Friend, Potsdam Humane Society, Best Friends Thrift Shop, Petsafe, Bonnie Boyd, Deborah Massell, Tina Flanagan, Wendy Smith, Lorry Bass, and Diane Freego.
The event would not have been possible without the participation of the 80 serious and silly bowlers on 16 lively teams, with fun names like The Slushpuppies, Guacabowle, The Alley Cats, Crane’s Great Danes, and “Spare” the Animals! Over 20 volunteers from the Friends of Potsdam Humane Society and the staff and board of directors of the Potsdam Humane Society helped to plan, prep, and run the Bowling Extravaganza.
Together these dedicated sponsors, bowlers, and volunteers raised $3,901 dollars to support the Potsdam Community Dog Park and the Pets for Vets program at the Potsdam Humane Society. Many, many Thanks for all your help! We look forward to the next Bowling Extravaganza in 2016.
Coming up on May 2 the Friends of PHS will be helping with the Strut Your Mutt festival at the Potsdam Arena. Please visit www.potsdamhumanesociety.org to learn more about all the programs, activities, and animals available for adoption at the Potsdam Humane Society.
