The Better Business Bureau: did you know that not only is it a reference source for a business’s reliability, but that it will go to bat for you if you have a complaint? (It probably screens trivial ones). In addition, the bureau solved my problem in three business days when the company at fault wouldn’t listen to me nor even to a very kind Potsdam police officer, who interceded twice on my behalf.

Furthermore, I filled out the complaint form on the Internet; it was easy and user-friendly. You can write by regular mail, too, but the process is somewhat slower.

The propane company that I complained about had taken back my partially-full tank before the due date, even though I had notified it officially and specifically of that date. BBB “persuaded” it to return the tank and reconnect it.
