To the Editor:
We share with the “Sound Off” writer “Behavior at Bayside,” which appeared in the July 6-12 issue of North Country This Week, the frustration that in spite of clear signage, some cemetery visitors are behaving improperly.
No alcohol, no fires, no boating, no fishing. Period. Drive slowly and control your pets.
One problem is that we maintain Bayside to look like a park, so people act as if it is. But it isn’t a public park, it’s a private not-for-profit burial ground.
We receive not a penny of government money. Those who don’t own plots are welcome to visit as long as they follow the rules.
If you see someone engaging in improper behavior, call the Potsdam Police Department.
