Asks for support for Pierrepont Town Board

To the Editor:

My name is Bill Mein, a resident of Hannawa Falls, and a candidate for the Town of Pierrepont Council. With my career as an instructor in the area of computing, along with my administrative experiences, I see an opportunity within the township for me to use this knowledge to help the town take advantage of an upcoming opportunity.

Much of the Town of Pierrepont has limited internet access. Slic.com has received funding to change this; yes, most of Pierrepont will be wired for high speed internet access in the not-too-distant future. Now-a-days, many citizens look to the web for basic information and communication with various entities.

The Town of Pierrepont does not have such a website; it should. With a website, one could find important dates relative to town government activities, to include various meeting dates and times, where to obtain various forms, such as hunting licenses or dog licenses, and procedures to conduct various types of town business. A listing of the many small businesses in town should be available as well. An email mechanism would provide residents a method to easily connect with town officials so we can ‘work together’ to resolve those issues that arise throughout the year.

This type of access can assist in bringing all of the residents of the town together to become a part of the town’s business. I believe we all want to make Pierrepont a better place to live, and for many, to work. I believe my experiences can assist the town in making this a reality. I ask you for your support by voting for me on November 8.
