To the Editor:
On behalf of the St. Lawrence County Legislature I want to thank all of those North Country residents who wrote letters to the editor, put up lawn signs, signed petitions and engaged in all sorts of other activities to save the psychiatric center.
Thank you to all of my fellow members of the psych center task force for all the time and effort that was brought forward to make a difference. It was a privilege to work with such a fine group.
The positive outcome that we enjoy now wouldn’t have been possible without having a Governor in office that truly cared about the North Country. Thank you Governor Cuomo.
He listened, reflected, researched and ultimately intervened on our behalf, as I knew he would.
Now that Cuomo has declared that the SLPC is a Center of Excellence, the people of the North Country have a brighter future and that is something to celebrate.
Jonathan Putney
Chairman of the St. Lawrence County Board of Legislators
