Adult cats at Potsdam Shelter need love, too

To The Editor:

I just recently started volunteering at The Potsdam Animal Shelter. I have only been there a few times but I still got to spend about 8 hours with mostly the cats but some dogs and absolutely love these animals.

I don’t think there is one that I would say has a “bad” personality, but one thing I did notice is how much people ignore the full grown cats or just spend two minutes with them and automatically judge them.

I am not saying it’s a bad thing to adopt a kitten instead because they need homes too, but a lot of these cats seem to be stuck there and it’s sad because they are all beautiful in their own ways.

The point of this letter was not to lecture but just to say if you want a pet to consider the cats.

Take an afternoon and stop in and play with them because then you will see their true beauty.

One special cat I wanted to mention was one named Leo. I find him special and very unique. He isn’t your lap cat and he doesn’t like other cats but if you go in and see him he will let you pet him.

I think all he really needs is some one-on-one time and some love and the right person to do that with. Also he is beautiful in my opinion--he is black and white and just needs a little love.

But if he isn’t your cat their are plenty more and they are all also just as unique. Please just stop in and look at all the animals. There will be at least one you will want to take home!
