In 7 months, Regan racks up accomplishments

Whatever your party affiliation, most citizens agree they want their government to be more efficient and less costly. Gavin Regan is proving that can be done!

In his report to the county Legislators on Monday, Sept. 26, he reported that his office revenues were up substantially when compared to last year’s revenues for the same period.

Also, because he is a “hands on” county clerk, utilizing only one deputy instead of the two deputies allowed by law, the county has saved approximately $70,000 this year. What a great change to actually see the county clerk behind the counter working for the public in addition to the administrative work done in his private office.

He reported that in an effort to keep costs down, and because he and Mrs. Streeter, his deputy, have been able to get the work done, his next year’s budget will also only include one deputy, saving another $70,000.

After a New York City visit, he has been able to add new car dealers to those who are working with the county Department of Motor Vehicles; this increases revenues.

He has created an “office on the move” that will travel to any group of ten or more people who need passports. This will make it more convenient and more efficient for citizens.

Mr. Regan is also working on a long-term project that would give honorably discharged military veterans an ID card stating they are an honorably discharged service veteran in hopes that eventually this ID card will be used by businesses that would be willing to give this military person a discount on purchases.

All of these are positive happenings which have occurred since March; that’s quite a record in only seven months.

Gavin Regan, after interviewing him, and checking of records, has been endorsed by the Central Trades Council, representing members of the AFL-CIO; the United Auto Workers; the CSEA; the county Democratic Party; and the Working Family Party. All these groups appreciate the hard work and lean government, and so do I.

That is why I will vote for Regan for county clerk on Nov. 8. If you bas your vote on proven accomplishments, he deserves your vote, too.
