To the Editor:
United Helpers recently held its first “Trunk or Treat” event at Hamilton Gardens in Waddington and the event was an overwhelming success.
Thank you to the parents and grandparents of more than 300 children who participated in the event. The residents really enjoyed seeing all of the children and their costumes. Even if they didn’t come to the community room to hand out candy, they were watching out their windows.
Thanks to Kareen Bedford and Tara Beckstead for all of their help that day, and to Jo Anne Ott and Chris Brown for their help behind the scenes before the event.
Thank you to Robin Glass for joining me in the parking lot to hand out candy from your trunk. While we were the only two trunks, I’m confident next year there will be more!
Big thanks also goes to the Kunoco IGA in Waddington for donating bags for us to use and being there after we needed to make another candy run.
We’re already talking about doing this again next year and we look forward to making this event a Halloween tradition.
