WINTHROP -- John Mattison, Winthrop, recently graduated from the Marine Corps Recruit Training Depot at Parris Island, South Carolina, as a Private First Class.

He completed his training on November 2 and is enroute to Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, to begin Marine Combat Training.

Mattison is a 2010 graduate of Saint Lawrence Central High School and a 2012 graduate of SUNY Canton in Criminal Justice.

He is the son of Susan Wojakowski of Winthrop and the late Jack Mattison of Mexico, New York.
